What Technology Wants is a 2010 nonfiction book by Kevin Kelly that treats technology as an extension of life. Its opening chapter, "My Question", recounts an early period in the author's life and traces how he went from a nomadic traveler with few possessions to a co-founder of Wired.

The book invokes a vast force, the technium, which it describes as the greater, global, massively interconnected system of technology vibrating around us. In November 2014, Kelly gave a SALT talk for the Long Now Foundation, "Technium Unbound", in which he explained and expanded on the ideas from this book and from Out of Control.

The book has been criticized for espousing a teleological view of biological evolution that some scientists reject, and for promoting what Jerry Coyne called a "bizarre neo-mystical progressivism".
